Motion Sickness Away

By Thelma H. Sherman

When you travel, do you feel sick in your stomach, make you feel dizzy and want to vomit? It has happened to me before and not just once, but several times. Once, when I rode on a boat, the weather was not fine at that time. The ship was not sailing smoothly. I felt like my insides were turning upside down. I felt dizzy and often vomited during the trip. I also had motion sickness when I took a trip on the plane. A few minutes after take-off, the plane experienced some turbulence and I felt sick. Later, I started to vomit. It would have been a disaster if I vomited on the floor. Lucky for me, I found the paper bag just in time. At both trips, I was able to experience discomfort, motion sickness that is.

Motion sickness, also referred to as kinetosis or travel sickness, is a condition in which your perception of movement does not coincide with your vestibular system's sense of movement. Vestibular system is the sensory system that provides the leading contribution about movement and sense of balance. The most common symptoms of motion sickness are dizziness, fatigue and nausea. The individual who is experiencing motion sickness will feel nauseous and will naturally vomit if the sickness is not resolved immediately.

There are ways to relieve motion sickness. One way of relieving yourself of motion sickness is by altering your movements while travelling. Travelling by land can cause motion sickness for some, but a simple gaze at the front can ease that feeling. Your inner sense of balance gets to be confirmed by the affirmation of that motion through your visual sense. Others who travel by boat, may opt to go to sleep during the entire trip rather than think about the uneasy feeling. However, even with these modifications, some people will still suffer some motion sickness at some point.

For some people, they take medication for motion sickness before they ride in the car, on the boat or on an airplane. Motion sickness medications can be availed without any prescription or if you prefer, you can have your doctor prescribe you with one.

However, at Safe Home we offer you a better product that is non-intrusive because you do not need to take any medicine at all. Safe Home has its very own Relief Band Motion Sickness Watch. It is amazing how this product can relieve you of that nauseous feeling while travelling on sea, up in the air or in your car. The relief band can be bought without the necessity of a prescription.
