Celebrating Christmas with Family

By Danielle Wright

Christmas is one of the few occasions when my entire family gets together for a reunion. They all come to my grandparents house, and just spend a couple of days celebrating by opening presents, playing games, eating lots of food, drinking and talking. I know this sounds like a lot of fun, and you probably wish your family did the same, but for me, it's one of the worst experiences.

Since most of the men in my family have political careers, they have a boring habit of talking only about this. Since I know absolutely nothing about this subject, I have nothing to do but stare at the ceiling, or talk to my cousins. They're much younger than me, so I don't have lot of things to talk to them about, but any activity that keeps me from having to listen to my relatives speaking, is a good one.

Considering the big age difference between me and my cousins, it's not a big surprise that I ran out of things to talk to them about, and the Christmas movies that were on TV didn't interest me. Luckily, I remembered a Christmas present that I hadn't really used, and was just sitting in my drawer.

That's how I started using my iriver h10 mp3 player. By listening to music and not having to listen to their boring conversations, time was passing much quicker. My parents got a little upset with me, saying it was rude to listen to music and not talk to my relatives, but they let me do what I pleased, in the end. My small player became indispensible.

When I was old enough to move out from my parents house, I did it, but I still kept my player, and whenever Christmas came, I'd listen to it again. It was probably one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received.
