See The Torres del Paine - Chile

If you are interested in going on an international vacation that features a lot of wonderful activities in nature, you should consider going to a mountain region in Chile known as Torres del Paine. It is commonly referred to as one of the bet destinations for adventure seekers to travel to. There are many wonderful things for travelers to experience while in Chile. If you are going to be traveling out of the country you will need to have a valid United States passport. Adding pages to a passport by going to Chile is a great idea. In order to visit the grand mountain range in Chile or any foreign country an individual must have a US passport. Without the necessary document foreign travel is not permitted. Where To Go

Torres del Paine is a national park that is comprised of mountains, a lake, a glacier, and is classified as an area rich in rivers that is located in the southern Chilean Patagonia. It is a vast expanse of mountain ranges that offer unique hiking and camping experiences. The Torres del Paine which translates as Towers of Paine is named for the granite pillars that jut out from the Patagonian steppe. These towers are flanked on either side by the summit of the Paine Grande.

Park History

The park was first described by Lady Florence Dixie who deemed the three towers Cleopatra's Needles. She and her party were the first tourists to venture to and visit the Torres del Paine. In 1959 the park was established and given the name Parque Nacional de Turismo Lago Grey, or the Grey Lake National Tourism park. In 1970 the park was then deemed the Torres del Paine National Park and in 1978 UNESCO designated the park as a Biosphere Reserve. The park has suffered from three prominent fires in 1985, 2005, and 2011, mishaps from tourists. The governments of the tourists have offered restoration packages as apologies.

Tours

In addition to hiking there are many other activities including fly fishing, sailing, horseback riding, kayaking, ice-walking, and it's a great opportunity to hone in on photography skills. There are many tour companies that lead guided tours and no one will leave disappointed. When visiting the Torres del Paine National Park there are many options when it comes to experiencing all that the park has to offer.. Camping is also an incredibly popular tourist activity for travelers who are in Chile.
