Monteagle Hotels For Tennessee Mountain Stays

By Felipe Hitt

All kinds of people come to stay in Monteagle hotels for a variety of reasons. But a majority of these travelers do have one thing in common, and that is the interstate. To be specific, everyone has to use the I-24 mountain section which goes through this town. It's no surprise that a lot of Monteagle lodging properties are located in proximity to the interstate.

It's not such a bad deal, because this small town located 40 miles from Chattanooga in Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau is actually quite famous as a mountain holiday destination. Some seek a secluded getaway in a cozy cabin, while others come to enjoy the outdoors and go mountain biking or hiking. The wineries nestled on the hillsides bring in their fair share of Oenophiles for wine festivals and winery tours and tastings.

But it is the I-24 drivers who keep Monteagle inn keepers busy all around the year. Given how carefully this particular section of the interstate has to be handled, most drivers who reach the town late choose to stay overnight instead of braving the unknown in the dark. That's why a lot of the accommodations for visitors are located up close to the highway exits.

Almost every property can be found on or in close proximity to W Main Street. Three hotels are at the aforementioned exits on either side of the intersection where W Main St meets the interstate. Some travelers may also prefer to follow the road to the town center, where they can find a couple more inns.

But any traveler looking to experience the true pleasure of a mountain stay has to consider the Monteagle cabin rentals as the best bet. These are also on W Main St and again just a few minutes from the I-24 exit. But the Monteagle cabins offer a lot more than just overnight stays for tired drivers. They are also the preferred choice for the huge crowds that invade the region for music festivals or University of the South related events in Sewanee.

There is a lodge here with an additional 20 cabins that are ideal for I-24 travelers, but also for those visiting Sewanee for events or landing at Franklin County Airport for business trips. It gets pretty busy when there is some kind of event going on at the university. During homecoming weekends or graduation, it's well nigh impossible to get a room or cabin at the last minute.

The cabins are spread on 25 acres around the lodge and secluded enough to offer a cozy mountain hideaway for the weekend. It is a popular place for couples, families and corporate groups looking for an outdoor retreat. Rustic from the outside, the interior in each cabin is furnished with everything travelers need, from a wood burning fireplace to mini bars, full kitchens, soaking tubs and Jacuzzis.

Many people passing through intend to stay overnight, but end up staying for a couple more days. The healthy mountain air, wineries, natural beauty and the peace and quiet makes it hard to let go and move on. That's why Monteagle hotels get to make friends with guests who keep coming back every year.
