How To Choose The Best Silver Speaker Wire

By Eugenia Gilmore

Speaker wires are necessary for one to make electrical connections among different types of speakers and amplifiers. PVC or Teflon is used in the insulation of the electrical conductors, normally two or more, that are found in a good silver speaker wire. One must get the best of these wires if they are concerned about getting quality sound from their speakers.

A number of things usually dictate whether you will have the best speaker cables or not. In case you want the capacity of your audio sound to be increased then a thick cable would be the best option to go for. Keep in mind that since the general thickness ranges from 12 to 16 you can choose any range suitable for you.

The sound type produced as well as the power consumed depends with the distance between your receiver or amplifier and the speakers. Short wires help in increasing the sound signal while at the same time lowering power loss. Besides, longer cables will be required if the distance between the amplifier and the speakers is increased.

Cables with connectors on the ends should be preferred as they help prevent short circuits. A wire stripper, however, can be used in case where the cables lack the connectors. After cutting the cable ends, the strands inside should be tightly twisted to eliminate chances of short circuit.

Thick silver wires are required where you need multiple connections made from the receivers to your speakers. With this, quality sound is produced as the resistance produced is minimized and the load is lightened. With a thicker cable, you are sure to get music of higher quality.

The covering that is given to the silver speaker wire should also be considered. Good shielding is essential to protect your speakers from damage. With good covering and suitable lengthy and thickness of the cable, you are sure to have quality sound from the speakers.
