Documentation

The first step is to get all your documentation together. Check on line for the passport issuer's list of what needs to be presented with the application. In all likelihood, you will need identity documents and proof of your nationality. If you do not have these documents, the first step is to get them.

Stay Calm

Remain calm. There is much to do in a short amount of time if you want to get your passport quickly. What you do not need is any of the negative emotions like anger or impatience barring your way and blocking your ability to cope with people you need to assist you. Use the Internet and research requirements associated with passport processing. Spending a couple of hours researching requirements for a passport application will save you a lot of time.

Visit the Office

Have all possibilities covered in your mind. Being prepared for any problem will certainly ensure a good outcome. It may also hasten the process. Sometimes visiting the passport office can be helpful and the earlier you arrive, the better.

Individual Contact

Be nice to those who are dealing with you. They process literally millions of passports per year and are used to dealing with irate, panic stricken customers. It will be a breath of fresh air to them to hear someone who is in control and willing to treat them with respect.

The Application

Make sure you fill out your application correctly. It needs to be clearly written and easily read. Applications can be held up by something as simple as your surname being unrecognizable on the first part of the application form. Get your photographs done before you submit the application. Make sure they are specific to the requirements set down in the application form. Follow the rules and the process can be accomplished quickly and easily. Timing

You could also check with the office that will be processing your passport to find out what the turnaround time for issuance will be. If you have already established a good relationship with a staff member, this will be easy for you.
