Used Cars - The Exciting Features Of Hybrid Vehicles

By Irene Meadow

The vehicle industry has seen immense growth over the years. This growth has come with a lot of innovation and redesigning. The engineering marvel that is the hybrid has attracted a lot of attention. Since fossil fuels have steadily been rising in prices and their undesirable effects on the environment, a solution is very much in demand. New Conventional vehicles burn less fuel than used cars, but the hybrid surpasses them all in a significant way.

Hybrid vehicles utilize two sources of power mostly an electric motor and a gas engine. The gas engine is normally smaller that the one found in ordinary vehicles. This significantly reduces the car's weight and hence the engine and motors that drive the car are not overworked.

Fuel consumption is greatly enhanced due to the reduced engine size and also because the electric motor provides power some of the time. The vehicle's emissions are much less since the gas engine is way smaller. It's combustion chambers are smaller, they burn less fuel and as a result release less carbon emissions into the atmosphere. This reduces the effects that increase global warming.

Hybrid vehicles generate electric power when the brakes are operated. This energy is normally wasted in the form of heat in conventional vehicles. The electric power generated charges the batteries which store the power for later use.

Noise levels are very low when the electric motors are engaged to run the car. The result is much less noise pollution. These motors are ideally used to power the car at low speeds. In a normal car, some things like belts and gears which run most components like the air conditioner and steering operate continuously.

In hybrids, they are operated only when required since they are run electrically. This translates into less tear of these car's components like gears, belts and so on.
