Choosing Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours

Many things are referred to as grand, such as places and things we consider impressive but it is bird eye views of the Grand Canyon that can most aptly be described as grand. Taking in lofty views of it aboard Grand Canyon helicopter tours lets one see sights and sounds that capture the essence of grandeur.

You may take a helicopter tour from a number of tour companies offering the service. The schedules and circuits of the flights vary. There are different departure points and landing areas. Tours may be taken starting from the South Rim and others start the other way, which is from the North Rim.

The flight duration also varies, with flights taking from 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 45 minutes up to an hour. Some helicopters are fitted with special windows to allow unhindered views. Some of them will also offer multi-lingual commentaries pointing out interesting features and landmarks along the way. This is accompanied by with music that is set to headphones.

There are a number of these. Some of them are the Dragon Corridor which is the broadest and deepest part of the place. There are other striking rock shapes that are naturally shaped like shrines and temples which are over a billion years old. Other remarkable sights are the Colorado River and the Black Canyon.

There is also the option to take helicopters over the Vegas Strip. A Vegas voyage will enable views of Mt. Charleston, the Red Rock mountain and the neighboring mountain ranges. It is possible to catch glimpses of majestic resorts and hotels over the area as well as golf courses and world-famed pools. Other sights are the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Downtown Las Vegas and the Nellis Air Force Base. Flights over the Vegas Strip are usually short, lasting from 12 to 15 minutes. You can take the flight by day or night.

Yet another option is coming from the Southwest to catch view of Fortification Hill, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Flights on this route include going down some 3,500 feet into the heart of the mountain. Some tours will also include a landing 300 feet on top of the Colorado River and a sight of Black Canyon on the return journey to the South Las Vegas Valley.

There are a number of options you can choose for these helicopter tours. Choose yours according to your budget but whichever approach you take, these are sights you will never forget and will want to return again in the future.
