Kenya Holiday:Why Kenya is a Popular Holiday Destination

An African Safari holiday and more specifically a safari in Kenya can take you to various parts of the country with absolutely many scenic, delightful and wonderful National Parks and Reserves and coastal beaches. The parks receive thousands and thousands of excited visitors who have the opportunity to see the magical experience that Kenya offers.

The Great Rift Valley is really one of the amazing wonders of the world. It cuts across from as far as the Middle East, and goes down through Africa as far as Mozambique, a distance of around 5400 miles in length. In East Africa, it separates into 2 arms, the Western Great Rift that goes through Uganda and the Eastern Rift that cuts through Kenya down to Tanzania and Malawi.

Highlands and Mountains,Those looking for holiday thrillers like mountain climbing adventures, Kenya have many places for them. One of the popular mountains is Africa's second highest peak, Mt Kenya. Besides its height and challenge to mountain climbers, it offers magnificent sceneries. Aberdare ranges, Shimba hills and Mt Longonot's vast crater are also very popular with tourists. Unique Lakes, This country has very unique lakes, which you will not find anywhere else. Lake Nakuru is one of the tourist hot spot, with thousands of flamingos flocking its shores. Lake Bogoria is volcanic active, with its some shores lined with amazing geysers. Others lakes include Magadi, Turkana and Victoria. Cultural tourism, Diversity in languages, clothing, cuisine and cultures are amazing in Kenya. With forty two tribes, you are assured of very different cultural treatment. Interaction with the locals provides a very good chance to explore their cultures, traditional dishes and their way of life. If you do not have the chance to mingle with locals, do worry as most Kenya hotels and tourist resorts, will always provide a chance to enjoy local cultures, either through music, dances and serving local cuisine.

The Lake Bogoria and Lake Baringo are also on the floor of the Rift Valley. L. Bogoria is famous for the geysers and various bird species. Further south and you are at the Aberdare Ranges. Aberdares National Park is hone to the elephants and other animals. It is a place where you will enjoy night game viewing at the comfort of your balcony. A 225 km from Aberdares takes you to the home of the flamingoes, The Lake Nakuru National Park. Approximately 180sqkm, L. Nakuru also boasts of the white and black rhinos, leopard, cheetahs, lions, baboons, buffaloes among others. Conspicuously missing here are the elephants. 70km to the east you will find L. Naivasha. This is the only fresh water lake in the Great Rift Valley. Nearby is the Hell's Gate National Park. The only park in Kenya where you can walk. Driving further south is the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Known for the 7th wonder of the modern world wildebeest migration and the big five, Masai Mara is the most famous safari destination in Kenya. The park is 1510sqkm and is surrounded by the Masai people who still stick to their tradition. This is thus a wonderful cultural and wildlife safari destination.

Sports tourism,Kenya is globally famous for churning athletes. There are many world recorder holders in Kenya, from Kipchoge Keino, Paul Tergat, Catherine Ndereba, Samuel Wanjiru and many more. Rift Valley is now training ground for international athletes, from Kenya and abroad. For those looking for golfing holiday, Kenya is ideal destination for all year round golfing.
