New York is probably the hottest metropolitan area in the world, and when you find yourself there, you must not miss to go around the see the top New York sights out there. These areas are generally popular for the beauty they posses and the rich history that they have. It might be regarded as sacrilegious if you walk on the streets of the City of New York and not even go to one of these popular sites. So it is with the intention of saving you from committing such a sin that I have gathered a directory of popular New York sights. With any luck, towards the end of this article, you'd already have an itinerary at heart and pulling out your luggage to pack and leave for the Big Apple.

Top 5 New York City Sights:

Central Park. This place has been the location of numerous movies and is the very first urban landscaped park in the United States. It is the home of many restaurants, the Metropolitan Museum, the Central Park Zoo and the Wollman rink.

The next place on our itinerary would not need any further introduction as it is one of the most famous places on Earth. I am talking about Central Park. Ellis Island and Liberty Island. These are two islands that will always and forever will be on the list of New York City sights. Close to half of the population of the United States have first set foot on Ellis Island between the years of 1892 and 1954. Ellis Island is fully open, same with Liberty Island, but the famed Statue of Liberty does not allow access to its interiors due to security reasons.

After Chrysler Building, you must never miss going to the Empire State Building. This was once the tallest building in the world and the spot for numerous movies. Its 102 stories and rich history would surely make for a great stopover. This was built back in 1931 and is 1, 454 feet tall. On the 86th floor, they have an observation deck that is open 7 days a week from 9:30am to 12 midnight, and you will see the greatest view of your life.

The Chrysler Building. Built in the 1930s, this building was designed as homage to the booming automotive industry during that era. It was the tallest building before, until the Empire State building was built months after. There are no tours in the building, but the lobby is open for tourists daily. Its beautiful facade would surely make a very good photo op.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, are the top five New York sights that one should never miss. So, the next time you come to New York City, leave a little time on your schedule to visit these famous landmarks, for surely, New York sights are one of the best in the world.
