Affordable Auto Insurance - 3 Ways You're Likely Paying More Than You Should

By Alan Rochford

Affordable auto insurance really isn't difficult to find. However, many people simply don't realize this fact and continue paying over the odds year after year! Have a look at this list to see whether you're likely overpaying for your policy.

1) You Don't Pay Yearly

Even if you already have a very affordable auto insurance policy, you'll usually find that you can save more when you pay up front. So, if you can afford to pay up front but you aren't, you're simply throwing money away!

2) You're A New Driver

It's true that young and new drivers auto insurance is nearly always going to cost you more. But there's no point in paying way over the odds just because you didn't do a little searching around for something cheaper!

The first thing you can do to lower the price of new driver auto insurance is to take an advanced driving course. Although this is going to cost you money, see it as an investment. It'll likely pay for itself when you consider the large reduction in your insurance premium.

Other ways to save money on your new driver auto insurance include working as hard as possible to build up a no claims bonus, choosing the car you buy carefully (some fall into a "low insurance" bracket), and using comparison sites to find insurers that specialize in new/ young drivers insurance.

3) You Didn't Search For Something Better!

Unfortunately it doesn't pay to be loyal to your insurance provider. By blindly renewing your policy every year, without checking out the competition, you're probably paying a lot more than you should be! Small yearly price increases soon add up, and it may be that there are much better deals out there that you never even knew about.

A lot of people choose not to shop around because they think it'll be too time consuming. This really isn't true, thanks to many different price comparison websites that are able to show various affordable auto insurance quotes side by side on your computer screen. You'll only need to enter your zip code and a few other details. And, once you find a price you like, it won't take long to switch.

Unfortunately many drivers are paying way more than they should on insurance because of the reasons listed above. Affordable auto insurance really isn't that difficult to find - you're almost guaranteed to find a cheaper policy if you take the time to look!
