Why AV is a Great Career Choice

By Dorothy Marshall

The AV industry is a multi-billion pound industry that is growing all of the time. Technology has become a part of everyday life especially AV (audio visual) related technology. As a result people with good AV related skills are very much in demand now.

For people who enjoy all things audio or visual an AV career is perfect. If you created your own music mixes on your laptop or loved cutting family videos then you have already built up some of the skills you need for a successful AV career. Audio visual technology is used on a daily basis in schools, hospitals, theatres, conference halls and many other places, so in every town there is a wide range of places for an AV specialist to get a job.

By studying AV at university or college or accepting an apprenticeship in the field, you will soon have a vast and wide knowledge at your disposal. This is great because AV is a broad subject and there are many different options when it comes to a job search.

Once you are qualified you can search on-line for AV jobs. There are now quite a few websites out there that specialise in the audio visual industry and they are usually the best place for you to find a job. Alternatively, take your CV around to local conference facilities, event planners, hotels, schools and large businesses.

Audio visual is a term that is used to describe a host of jobs, careers and tasks. AV can be applied to scriptwriting jobs, TV production jobs as well as the live production work that it is usually associated with. If you think you have what it takes to move into a career in this area, contact a local AV company and ask if they are hiring. Explain your credentials and expect feedback as to whether you are ready for work or need further study. Whatever happens, it will be worth it.
