How To Guarantee Comfortable Camping

By Wendy Salas

Setting a date for a camp out with one's family is certainly a good idea. It not only fosters bonding between parents and children but also helps, especially the younger ones, acquire survival skills as well as attitude. To ensure comfortable camping, certain considerations would have to made days before the commencement of the activity.

It is necessary to make a checklist on all the things to be brought. This would guarantee that all necessities would be packed. It's pretty tough to run out of let's say food or water right in the middle of nowhere. Thus, planning is indeed necessary to get everything placed in the right spots.

Look for the equipment in one's list days before the planned date. Getting a tent, for those who don't have them yet, and other camper's basics might mean going to the nearest sporting goods shop to make a purchase. Getting recommendations from other experienced campers would also make a good shortcut.

However, if one has a tent at home, it would be necessary to test it out first just to see if it's good working. Campers have to think about whether the stakes and pegs are complete, and if the tent can be set up conveniently. Practicing on how to assemble it at home would come in handy; it cuts off time needed to figure out how to get it done in the campsite.

Bringing along floor pads as well as sleeping bags might also be useful. Better prepared than not, in case rain occurs, the floors should not be easily damped. The pads would protect the base of the tent from being wet from the rain. Sleeping bags are always good for they make good emergency shelters if tents go down for some reasons.

Packing other materials and equipment such as duct tapes, ropes, propane stoves, matches, lighters and hatchets would be another consideration. These items surely would be handy in any camp adventure as they are useful in carrying out many activities in the wilderness.

It is therefore essential too to prepare the food and water that would suffice for the entire duration of the camp. It is better to bring more than run out of supplies in the middle of the wilderness. Proper storage is another concern to ensure the edibles would last long enough to be eaten; bringing coolers, pans, water jugs and utensils would be necessary.

Most importantly, it would warrant more comfortable camping if the campers can prepare for any eventualities that might occur in the wild. The venue can be pretty dangerous; reading about the basic survival skills would therefore come in handy.
