A Brief Peek At The History Of EVA Air Carriers

By Bernard Petronus Xavier

After the Taiwanese government espoused some new measures which were successful in curbing some of the ceilings of their air transport industry, EVA air was launched. Domestic routes commenced at the end of 1989 and that was the ultimate outcome for EVA. The company worked hard to expand throughout the 90s and into the 2000s. Although they were greatly affected, like every airline, changes were necessary when fuel prices went up, which resulted in slow developments. Yet this privately owned airline was swift in making changes and this allowed them to speedily make profits. This strong airline from Taiwan has some fascinating facts which we will reveal.

In the third month of 89, EVA Airways received their license to start operations that year. Later that year, in October, they contracted for delivery of twenty six airliners from McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. Evergreen Airways was the original name of EVA but for undisclosed reasons it was changed to its current version. Evergreen International was actually the name of another airline that specialized as a cargo carrier. To ensure that their company and airline had a unique name, it was changed to the one it is now. Once this trivial matter was taken care of, the company began to generate business.

There are other aviation related areas in which EVA is involved. One very large part of this airline is their EVA Air Cargo division which flies internationally. They are able to transfer freight from one point to another using Evergreen as their primary company. EVA tries to handle every possible shipping aspect available. Operations that are short in duration, specifically in regard to freight hauling, is taking care of locally as well near Taiwan. Combined with their ground services, they also lease airplanes and service them as well.

When fuel prices increased more than 35% in 2007, the airline industry, including EVA, suffered a monetary crisis. The company incurred heavy losses due to this even though all airlines were trying to deal with this scenario, as well. Even in Taiwan, an airline like EVA, is completely at the mercy of oil prices for the continuation of the business. When survival is at stake, companies take drastic steps to counteract big losses, and that is what airlines had to do. To keep their company alive, EVA had to change the schedule of flights, and reduce staffs, in order to cut enough costs to remain in business.

This airline, EVA, is fiscally sound and continues to make profits and expand in the marketplace. Going from absolutely nothing to a market of international size is a very difficult task. The airline needed to secure their operations and coverage at home in Taiwan. By merging with other Asian carriers, they were able to accomplish what seemed to be impossible in regard to company growth and profits. However, they were able to begin expanding internationally while they worked on the domestic situation at home in Taiwan.

Having an airplane journey is really a fun thing to do, especially if you are going someplace extraordinary. More and more people are determining to place their holidays in London. There's so much to do, such as going for a tour of the world famous Buckingham Palace. This can demonstrate a few remarkable things concerning British Royalty.
