Brazilians label Rio de Janeiro, Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City) and with very good motive. Spectacular mountain scenery, lush exotic forests and world-famous beaches including Ipanema and Copacabana encompass this cosmopolitan city. But why travel for simply the vistas? The real miracle of Rio is her lifestyle and fervent individuals. Brazilians put on a breathtaking cultural show of color, music and dance. If you like to samba and want to party, try not to miss out on the most completely unique party on this planet, Carnival.

Plan beforehand. Brazil requires a tourist visa even for short visits, so have a look at your local Brazilian consulate for guidelines. In addition, Carnival technically begins forty days in advance of Easter, so the dates changes from year to year. Verify your calendar and be sure to purchase a flight ticket and apartment or hotel accommodation far ahead of time as this is peak tourism time of year in Rio de Janeiro.

Obtain your parade tickets early on. The Samba School Parade performed at the Sambadromo on Sunday and Monday of the Carnival weekend is the showcase party of the Carnival holiday. Samba schools contend in an all-night spectacle that is a must-see. Keep in mind that seat tickets are expensive and become unattainable promptly. They may be bought on-line or using a vacation travel agency.

Pass at least a week in Rio de Janeiro through the Carnival season. There is always so much to see and do that you would not want to overlook a thing. Additionally, many holiday rentals have a 10 night minimum during this period. Likewise, make sure you go with renting apartments rather than a hotel room. With flats in Rio, you'll get more independence including the ability to invite visitors in your unit. Many hotels in Copacabana and Ipanema do not allow company.

Besides the official parade, you may want to go to a street parade referred to as a banda or bloco. It's free and also a great way to burn some calories while you samba in the streets along with the residents. There are dozens of these gatherings held all around the city during the entire Carnival season. Check a travel guidebook for times and locations.
