Lifeguards aren’t necessarily known to ride bicycles, but that could all change thanks to the Sharpshooter Rescue Bicycle, an electric bicycle designed to be used primarily by lifeguards. The bike has a flotation device that can be shot towards a drowning victim and retracted via a winch.

The bicycle is an eco-friendly way for lifeguards to quickly respond to a person in need of assistance. The idea of a bike designed to be used by lifeguards may seem like a bit of a stretch, but I could actually see it working. Lifeguard departments are notoriously underfunded in many beach towns (at least in San Diego). A cheaper alternative to expensive ATVs and trucks such as the Sharpshooter Rescue Bicycle could mean a bigger budget, which would mean more lifeguards on staff.

Graffiti artist INSA has placed a pair of hot pop culture icons together in front of his arresting murals. By doing so, the dynamic of the three bold elements initiates a conflict of the viewer’s attention, resulting in the inevitable depreciation of his own graphic masterpieces.

The choice of incorporating two-wheelers as mainstream commodities and models as over-sexualized subjects brings about themes of consumerism, sexuality and the possession of public space in Girls on Bikes.

The folding bike is a fantastic theory that sadly fails frequently in practice. Unlike many models on the market that perform both duties badly, the Union Folding Bicycle seems like it could ride well and looks to tuck together quite compactly.

A number of common issues were tackled in this design by Minhan Lin and Weiche Wu to make the two-wheeler more appealing than its disappointing counterparts. The frame is stiffened and thickened to reduce distortion while pedaling, all the while maintaining a slim 8-inch width throughout.

The Union Folding Bicycle transforms quickly and effortlessly, collapsing in on itself and concealing its tiny wheels too. This configuration allows it to be easily carried and even stowed away in a standard-sized locker.
